چکیده

the precision and accuracy of national research council (nrc 2001) vs. cornell pennsylvania miner (cpm) softwares were evaluated. sixteen lactating dairy cows (8 in second lactation and 8 in third, with days in milk of 55 ± 31, body live weight = 641 ± 53 kg, milk yield =31.2 ± 2.5 kg/day), were assigned to individual pens in a randomized complete block design, with two blocks of two ration treatments (each treatment including 4 cows in second lactation and 4 in the third). the cows were fed rations formulated by nrc 2001 (a) and cpm (b), as totaly mixed rations (tmr) for 90 days. the adaptation consisted of a period of two weeks from the beginning of the experiment. the average milk yields of cows fed with diet a vs. b were 31.11 and 31.9, respectively with no significant difference observed between the two groups for the mentioned trait (p>0.05). there was no significant difference observed for dry matter intake (dmi) in the two ration treatments (p>0.05), the average dry matter intake of diets a vs. b being 22.9 and 22.33 kg/day, respectively. both nrc 2001 and cpm underpredicted dmi (-0.63 and -2.43 kg/day respectively) while the national research council model predicting dmi somehow more accurately (in lactating dairy cows) than cpm. average daily crude protein intakes for diets a vs. b were 3618 and 3438 g/d, respectively (p

Performance of Lactating Dairy Cows Fed Yeast and Fibrolytic Enzymes

We evaluated the effect of supplementing typical dairy diets with yeast and fibrolytic enzymes on dairy cow performance. Twentyfour Holstein cows were used to evaluate the effects of yeast (Procreatin-7, a live culture of Saccharomyces cerevisiae) and various amounts of FP800 (a fibrolytic enzyme mixture) on lactation performance. Treatments were arranged in a 4 × 2 factorial design consisting ...

Lactation performance of mid-lactation dairy cows fed ruminally degradable protein at concentrations lower than national research council recommendations.

The aim of this study was to test whether feeding of diets containing lower proportions of ruminally degradable protein (RDP) but with a constant proportion of ruminally undegradable protein (RUP) alters feed intake, milk production and yield, and the apparent efficiency of N utilization by mid-lactation dairy cows. During the covariate period (d 1 to 28), 40 mid-lactation cows (36 Holstein and...

Feeding value of glycerol as a replacement for corn grain in rations fed to lactating dairy cows.

Growth of the corn ethanol industry has created a need for alternatives to corn for lactating dairy cows. Concurrent expansion in soydiesel production is expected to increase availability and promote favorable pricing for glycerol, a primary co-product material. The objective of this study was to determine the feeding value of glycerol as a replacement for corn in diets fed to lactating dairy c...

Performance of lactating dairy cows fed varying levels of total mixed ration and pasture.

Two, 8-week experiments, each using 30 lactating Holstein cows, were conducted to examine performance of animals offered combinations of total mixed ration (TMR) and high-quality pasture. Experiment 1 was initiated in mid October 2004 and Experiment 2 was initiated in late March 2005. Cows were assigned to either a 100% TMR diet (100:00, no access to pasture) or one of the following three formu...

Performance of lactating dairy cows fed macerated forage conserved as silage and hay

The effect of forage maceration at harvest on silage characteristics and its effect on lactation performance of Holstein cows were determined. Either a roller conditioner or a prototype forage macerator manufa...
